From the 4th to the 6th of October, a fair with cavas and gastronomy from Sant Sadurní d’Anoia offering tastings, pairings, good music and diverse guided tours.
The Catalan region of l’Alt Penedès is well known for several reasons; among the most prominent, the beauty of its landscapes full of vineyards, the magnificent gastronomy and the incontestable quality of its wines and cavas. It is, like Josep Pla wrote, “one of the most noble places” from all over Catalunya, sublimating “because of the intelligence, the toughness and the human work”.
Nothing better to prove the veracity of these words from the Catalan writer than staying a few days in El Molí Blanc, an old windmill, near the river Riudebitlles which has been turned into a beautiful and comfortable rural house. You can enjoy too a cultural and gastronomic proposal such as El Cavatast.
Discovering the best cavas
This taste of cavas and gastronomy, which is celebrated from the 4th to the 6th October, will allow you to taste the best local products, get to know the experts that elaborate these products and discover the nicest and most emblematic sites of the villa of Sant Sadurní d’Anoia.
Among the outstanding activities of the Cavatast, we find the nigth of the Magnunms, the best cavas and the gastronomy, or the diverse tastes and pairings (with smoked, cheeses or chocolates) that take place in the Celler de La Fassina, with selected cavas from wineries such as Freixenet, Carol Vallès or Agustí Torelló Mata.
Gastronomy, music and a lot more
Also, there will be good music, like the one from Dalton Bang, which will review the great hits, from the 60s to the present, in a party full of dance and joy; or Very Special Trio which, besides the singer and trombonist Rita Payés, will pair the best cavas with the greatest hits from the north American song book.
Those who would like to have a more exiting experience on the gastronomy of the area should definitely visit the CIC Fassina Center of Interpretation of the Cava, which offers an audio-visual route that includes a guided tour and a taste; the Espai Xocolata Simón Coll, which introduces us to the secrets of some chocolate masters with 175 years of history; or the stops of the Muestra de Artesanos, which offers unique handcraft pieces of pottery, woven, silver, wooden, etc.
The most daring can enjoy the Escape Room “The best cava in the world”, which ends with the revelation of an exciting hidden enigma. There will also be guided tours to “Sant Sadurní anecdótico” or the church and the bell tower of the village.
